Meet Hazel! A Frasier resident since 2020, Hazel is a retired nurse with a life full of adventure. She’s lived in London, Paris, Milan, New York, Connecticut, and Pittsburgh—bringing a world of experiences to our community.
Q&A with Hazel:
Q: Is there something your elders taught you that you still remember today?
A: Maybe, to be kind…or remember to say sorry.
Q: Do you have a favorite spot on Frasier campus?
A: Oh yes! I have a section in the residents’ garden, and I already have tulips coming up.
Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
A: I think Botswana. I have visited before and it’s absolutely lovely.
We’re grateful to have Hazel as part of the Frasier family!

Meet Curt, a resident of five years who spends more time in the Frasier Woodshop than anywhere else! Known for his accountability and expertise, Curt is a trusted mentor in the shop, teaching woodworking classes to residents of all skill levels. He has played a key role in organizing and leading this space, helping many who never imagined themselves as woodworkers discover a new passion.
Q&A with Curt:
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
A: It would have to be Superman. I was such a Superman fan! Although, that is more than one power.
Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
A: Japan. We lived there for three years, on a Navy base near Tokyo. We’ve been back six times and have another trip planned this fall.
Q: What is your favorite Frasier memory?
A: I gave a talk in January about my woodworking hobby, and it was well received! It was called Life in Woodworking. I was able to organize the stages of my hobby and explain it in a way that people seemed to enjoy.

Meet Bev, a resident who has seen nine years of Frasier’s growth firsthand- including watching our lap pool and The Prairies apartments rise right outside her window! She has no trouble staying busy, claiming “If you can’t find something to do at Frasier, then you’re not really looking!”
Q&A with Bev:
Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
A: Back to the Pribilof Islands in Alaska. I have visited several times; it’s a birding paradise.
Q: What’s something your grandparents or elders taught you?
A: To always live within your means. As a child of the Depression, that lesson stuck with me and helped me plan for a life at Frasier.
Q: Favorite Frasier tradition or activity?
A: The Wellness Center. I like the pool, and I love to exercise. We are so fortunate to have good exercise specialists, they give very good advice and really know what they’re doing.

Meet John — our amazing Resident Council President (at least for a little while longer!). His term may be wrapping up soon, but his leadership, thoughtful perspective, accountability, and commitment to community service will be missed.
Q&A with John:
Q: If you could have one food for the rest of your life, what would you pick?
A: A breakfast cereal called Bircher Müesli, which is a Swiss dish that my wife makes with fresh apples. You can buy it in the grocery store, but it’s not quite the same as homemade.
Q: Is there something your elders taught you that you still remember today?
A: My dad came from a poor Iowa farming family, so he grew up with an incredible work ethic that he consciously passed on to me. A good work ethic, and just a sense of common good.
Q: What was your favorite age to be?
A: From the time I was 65 until now. I loved the 15 years we were going back and forth between Colorado and Chile, but I think one of the nicest five years of my life was the last five years here at Frasier. It’s a great community with a lot of interesting people.
John

Meet Ester! She and her husband moved to Frasier in January 2020 – right before the COVID pandemic shuttered the world. Although it was a challenge to meet others during that time, Ester found safety and community among her neighbors – and their pets!
Q&A with Ester:
Q: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Lemon meringue pie. And I’m very picky, it has to be meringue, and it has to be very lemony.
Q: What is something that makes you feel at home?
A: We used to have 37 acres, we were so out there in the open, so since coming here, I have felt so safe. And at night, it is comforting to see the security, it makes a difference.
Q: What is your favorite flower?
A: I would say orchids. I used to have a house with a greenhouse, and we had orchids. I am not a flower person, but I do love orchids.
Q: Where is your favorite place you ever visited?
A: Bali was beautiful. Each village had its own specialty. We went to one place where all they made was masks!

Q: What is your go-to North Fork order?
A: I would have to say the pizzas. We just made a new one with chicken, spinach, and artichoke with garlic oil. It’s very good.

You’ll find him leading fitness classes, offering personal training sessions, and conducting wellness assessments focused on balance and fall risk.
Q&A with Brandon:
Q: What are you most known for among your friends, family, or coworkers?
A: Probably being energetic. I get antsy and have a hard time sitting still!

A: A snow monkey! You see them a lot in Japan, they hang out in hot springs during the winter.
Q: What is your go-to Mayme’s order?
A: My favorite is the sticky buns they have on Thursdays. They’re pretty big, with pecans and icing on top. I only get them when I’m really trying to treat myself.
Ask Brandon about his popular Golden Sneakers class next time you see him!

Meet Sunita! You’ll find her most evenings at the front desk, helping residents and guests with a warm smile. Once a week, she also dons her wait staff apron in The Meadows dining room—a role she kept by choice because she loves the team. Whether greeting you in the lobby or serving your table, Sunita brings joy, respect, and heart to both roles.
Q&A with Sunita:
Q: Do you have a book or show from your childhood that you still enjoy?
A: There was a cartoon I loved called Moomin—we watched it dubbed in Nepali, so I always thought it was a Nepali show, but its Japanese or something. I still love to watch it in the mornings.
Q: What advice would you give yourself a year ago?
A: Make everyone happy or try to put a smile on everyone’s face. At the front desk, I get to do it all the time! Everyone comes by and says hi, and I know most of them.
Q: Do you have a favorite Frasier activity or tradition?
A: The coffee cart they do sometimes—it’s a small thing but I love coffee.
Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
A: The beach! I am thinking about the beach all the time—whether I’m in a good mood or a bad one. I saw the beach for the first time when I went to Florida. It was amazing! Even the creek makes me happy – just being by the water.
Sunita
